If you're not ready for some Red Sox Yankees then watch some of these videos, it should help. What will the 2009 playoffs hold? I'm thinking something epic.

Suspension: To Drop or not to Drop that is the Question.

We all know about the drama behind the Manny Ramirez steroid suspension. How it may put a kybosh on the Dodgers dominance, and how it refreshed the shiner left on baseball by A-Rod. That’s great water cooler talk, but what difference does it make to Fantasy owners?

MLB Preview 2009 - AL Central

AL Central Preview
You’d be lying to yourself if you were even 51% confident in any one of these team’s chances to win the World Series. There is no powerhouse and no weak link. This was the one division in baseball that didn’t have a team with less than 70 wins. The White Sox took the division by posting a 44-29 record in the Central. I’ll use some John Madden logic and say the team with the best record in the Central will again have the edge this year.

AL East Preview
The AL East – baseball’s premier division. This division has arguably the best three teams in baseball in the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays. It’s a shame that at least one of them will miss the playoffs. This expert predicts that whichever two make it, those two will meet in the ALCS because they’re just that much more superior to the rest of the American League. I’m also willing to bet that whichever team misses out will be a much better team than the AL Central and AL West winners. Without further ado … the AL “Beast” preview.

MLB Preview 2009 - AL West

AL West Preview
The AL West – baseball’s easiest road to the postseason. These teams just have to outlast three others to get in, it’s that simple. I never understood why this hasn’t been addressed. And after reviewing the potential these four teams have, plus the staggering amount of flaws each team has, it’s really embarrassing that one of these teams will make the postseason. This might be a bigger problem for baseball than steroids.

NL West Preview
The NL West...where two teams traveled as far as possible from the Yankees to make money and where the one team with any World Series aspirations is relying on a former Yankee manager and a displaced Red Sox from the Bronx....funny isn't it? Not as funny as having to trade your best player because you're getting divorced, but still funny.

NL Central Preview
It’s time to preview the NL Central, the most unpredictable and up for grabs division in baseball, year in, year out. Any of these mediocre teams could win the division … except for you, Pirates; you aren’t even a mediocre team.

The NL East...it's home to the reigning world (US) champion Philadelphia Phillies. Which in turn is home to the Liberty Bell, cheese steak, cheese steak, cheese steak...heck it's like a Baby New York!

"Big Game James" ... Please, Spare Me

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I am sick and tired of hearing about "Big Game James" when his past start was his 4th postseason start. It made him 2-2 lifetime in the postseason with an ERA of 2.88 (good), a WHIP of 1.44 (bad) and Opp BA of .289 (very bad). In fact, he's gotten lucky with the number of hits and walks he has given up in the playoffs that none of the teams he's faced ever got the big blow he's flirted with. We might as well start calling Dice-K "Big Game Matsuzaka" if we're going to be handing out the "Big Game" moniker so freely.
